To enhance the leadership and artistic development of children and youth, and foster their teamwork skills, Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators launched specialized theater programs under the Rubu’ Qarn for Theater and Performing Arts project in 2023. This project encompasses various initiatives such as projects, competitions, and awards. It targets members of Sharjah Children, Sharjah Youth, Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, and Sharjah Capability Development, with the aim of nurturing the skills and knowledge of participants ranging from 6 to 31 years old. The first-level workshops of the programs have already showcased the promising talents of 697 participants, providing them with a platform to express themselves and build self-confidence. Meanwhile, the second-level workshops are continuing to build upon the foundations laid in the previous stage.
It is worth noting that the first level of workshops in the Performing Arts program, catering to the age group of 6 to 31 years old, focused on introducing participants to a variety of theater exercises. These exercises aimed to develop and explore their creative and expressive skills, as well as the fundamentals of improvisation. Additionally, the Puppetry Arts Program workshops offered participants between the ages of 6 and 18 the opportunity to learn the basics of puppetry and how to create and manipulate puppet models, nurturing their imaginative and artistic expression.
Furthermore, the first level of the Rubu’ Qarn for Theater Leaders program was launched, targeting graduates of Sharjah Youth and Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah. Emirati artist Mohammed Al Amri shared his expertise in the theater field and provided insights into theater leadership. Additionally, the “Theater at My University” project aimed at students from universities and colleges in the Emirate of Sharjah aims to stimulate their creativity and encourage them to form their own theater groups. It also offers them the opportunity to compete by selecting topics of their interest.
Mariam Al Barout, a member of Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, shared her perspective, saying, “For me, I see theater as a way to invest in and further develop my skills and talents. Theater allows me to express myself and unleash my creative energy.” Similarly, Mariam Al Naqbi, a member of Sharjah Children, expressed her delight in participating in the Theater Performance Workshop, which provided numerous benefits such as self-expression, overcoming shyness, decision-making, and teamwork. Abdullah Al Bloushi, a member of Sharjah Capability Development, added, “Through the workshops, I have been able to enhance my listening skills and become more aware of my surroundings, be it through movements or sounds. This contributes to the success of our team and the theatrical performances we are preparing.” Mansour Al Zaabi, a member of Sharjah Youth, expressed his gratitude, stating, “I would like to extend my thanks to Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators for their outstanding project in theater and performing arts. They have provided us with all the necessary resources to excel and showcase our creativity.”
Rubu’ Qarn for Theater and Performing Arts will continue offering workshops and programs to the public and creative youth of Sharjah, providing them with opportunities to showcase their talents and creativity. Interested individuals can stay updated on upcoming workshops and register to be part of this project, which aims to make a significant impact in the field of theater, particularly in the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates as a whole.
